A 3-hour focused archaeological tour of Kourion — the most important Greco-Roman site in Cyprus — departing from Limassol (25-minute drive each way). Round-trip transport included. Site highlights covered with an English-speaking guide: the Greco-Roman theatre (built in the 2nd century BC, still used for live performances each summer), the House of Eustolios with its 4th–5th century AD floor mosaics, the early Christian basilica with surviving column bases, the Roman nymphaeum, and the cliff-top views over Episkopi Bay (the site sits on a 60-metre cliff above the sea). €38 adult, €22 child. The theatre is the postcard, but the House of Eustolios mosaics are what serious archaeologists come for — particularly the Achilles and Odysseus at the court of Lycomedes panel, intact and protected under a modern shelter. We pace the tour so you spend longer in the Eustolios complex than at the theatre, which is the reverse of what most tours do. Do not visit Kourion between 12:00 and 15:00 in July or August — there is almost no shade, the limestone reflects heat, and the site is honestly miserable. The 09:00 start is the right choice in summer; in spring and autumn the 16:00 slot is better. We do not run midday Kourion tours June through September. Itinerary. 0:00 hotel pickup from the Limassol seafront strip (Olympion Beach through to the Limassol Marina). 0:25 arrival at Kourion. 0:30 introduction in the shaded entrance area: a 10-minute overview of why the site matters (the apex of a continuous Greek-then-Roman-then-Byzantine civic site from ~1200 BC to the 7th century AD). 0:40 the Greco-Roman theatre — we walk down through the cavea (the seating) to the orchestra level and take 20 minutes there. 1:00 the House of Eustolios mosaic complex — 35 minutes, the heart of the tour. 1:35 the Roman nymphaeum and public baths complex. 1:50 the early Christian basilica — column bases, the baptismal font, and the cliff-edge view east toward Limassol. 2:10 short walk to the stadium ruins outside the main fenced area (free to view). 2:30 return drive. 2:55 hotel drop-off. Practical. Group size 4–14. Pickups run between 08:30 and 09:00 for the morning slot; 15:30 and 16:00 for the afternoon. Sturdy shoes are essential. Bring water. A hat is essential April–October.
